Overview

Although ACE inhibitors are among the most commonly prescribed medications in veterinary cardiology, no consensus exists on the ideal dose of ACEi for treatment of heart disease, systemic hypertension, or proteinuria. The purpose of this presentation is to review the existing evidence and future research directions that can assist clinicians in choosing the optimal dose of ACEi for their patients.

About the Author

Dr. Jessica Ward is a native of Idaho Falls, Idaho, though much of her training took place in the state of North Carolina. She obtained her undergraduate degree from Duke University and her DVM from NC State University. After a 1-year small animal rotating internship at the Ohio State University, she returned to NC State for her 3-year residency in Cardiology. Dr. Ward is currently an Associate Professor of Cardiology at Iowa State University. Her research interests include point-of-care ultrasound, the cardiovascular effects of steroids, and the scholarship of teaching and learning, and she is also a founding member of the Translational RAAS Interest Group (TRIG).
