Course Overview: Fear of noises is a remarkably common problem in dogs. Sadly, many pet owners do not think to ask their veterinarian for help when they see their pet suffering from severe noise fears that can cause profound suffering for dogs. This presentation will review the problem, the importance of proactive screening, risk factors for the problem and how to diagnose it. Several different treatment options will also be included.

About the Authors

Valarie V. Tynes, DVM, DACVB, DACAW & Amy Learn, DVM

Dr. Valarie Tynes is a native Texan and received her DVM from Texas A&M University. She worked in private practice for 14 years before returning to academia to pursue a residency in clinical animal behavior at the University of California at Davis in 2000. She has been a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists since 2003 and is currently Immediate Past President of the College.

VIEW FULL BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Learn grew up outside Philadelphia, PA and spent summers visiting family at the Jersey Shore where she still loves to visit. She attended undergrad in Bethlehem PA receiving a BS in Biology and worked at a wildlife conservation park in Texas before being accepted to the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.
